The Goal of Ken Stern and MyChild with Cerebral Palsy

As an organization, MyChild with Cerebral Palsy was established by Ken Stern as a bridge in the gap between services available to all children with Cerebral Palsy. While some families are able to afford and easily access therapy and support efforts aimed at helping children with CP reach their full potential, far too many others were left behind. With so many programs and assistance efforts available, gaining and losing funding or resources on a monthly basis, MyChild was created by Ken Stern to be a one-stop information center for all parents.

But what does MyChild do? We have profiled in the past the aims of our organization but, in short, MyChild aims to connect parents with resources specifically helpful for their child. Cerebral Palsy can involve a wide assortment of conditions and needs, both for the child and the family. Founder Ken Stern’s goal with creating MyChild was to allow for variety in how help is offered, with a customized approach particular to the unique needs of every child.  As such, our website and care team does not just help one subset of Cerebral Palsy but, instead, children (and adults) with a wide range of abilities.

How we do this is simple: whether through a simple contact form or a telephone call ((800) 692-4453(800) 692-4453 FREE), parents connect with a care team member that analyzes which resources best meet their child’s needs. Rather than deluge busy parents with hundreds of pages of information that do not apply to them at all, MyChild care team members match parents with specific information for their state, equipment needs, OT/PT requirements and more. The result is a personalized delivery of customized service that goes beyond a simple download.

This quest for personal assistance is the foundation for what Ken Stern wanted to build when he created MyChild. Care team members speak with parents on a 1:1 basis to not only better understand their child’s needs, but also be a friend and helpful ear. Available 6 days a week from 9 am to 8 pm EST, the MyChild care team focuses on the person, not the condition, when it comes to providing assistance around Cerebral Palsy. It’s not unusual for these calls to go well beyond the original request and include a wealth of information that can specifically help your child.
