Through articles or editorial reviews in everything from Sesame Street Magazine and Exceptional Parent, to Dr. Koop.com, our Coordinators make sure that kids with special health care needs are in the media. With more than 1,400 members and partners at children’s hospitals, and the Academy of Pediatrics Chapter, our Family Voices leaders teach classes, provide materials to thousands of families, assisted more than 500 families asking for help, participate in grand rounds, serve on the Medicaid contract and EPSDT groups, and were invited by the Governor to attend the signing of the Family Care Act. These activities help address the major problems affecting NJ’s children with special health care needs: Adequate insurance coverage for important health services, especially therapies and home nursing; Obtaining critical health-related services at schools.
